We are heading to the Barbie movie on Monday and we are all set with our outfits! I really wanted to be able to wear the things we got again, so I decided to do t-shirts and some fun accessories instead of full-on outfits. Check out what we got below. I added a bunch of other things that I thought were super cute too! Everything is either from Amazon or Target. Happy shopping! I will add some notes at the bottom for the Target things cuz most of that was on clearance!

Target clearance things.. Most are cheaper in store than online! Click to check you local availability!

Things to do in San Diego suggested by YOU and a few from me

As I mentioned yesterday, my girls and I are heading to San Diego for dance nationals and while we will be busy with that a lot of the week, we are definitely going to have some down time. SO I asked all of you for suggestions and WOW you delivered!! I was just going to put it all in notes for you to screenshot on my stories, but I think this will be more beneficial for all of us. I will add to the list as we visit, and as I get more suggestions from you! Feel free to pin this or save it another way and reference it later for when you are heading that way!

I organized all the suggestions by topic, to make it easy to find. I also included a list of beach must-haves you can find on Amazon! I'll update this list as I find more awesome things too!

So, here we go.. all the fun San Diego things!

First and foremost..

BEACHES- because can you even say you went to San Diego if you didn't go to the beach?! Check out all the beach must haves you suggested HERE. (Amazon) Things not on Amazon that we love are OUR BEACH WAGON (Dick's Sporting goods) and Just ingredients Electrolytes. That affiliate link should give you a discount but if not use code SHAREE. By using my links, you help support me at no extra cost to you! (Thanks for that!)

  • La Jolla Cove- SO FUN. This is one of our FAVES. And also suggested by several of you! Love the surf, it’s usually calmer waves and great for young kids. Parking can be tricky though, so go early.
  • Mission Beach- This beach is hoppin! If you want to be in the middle of all the action, you want to go here! There are shops, restaurants, fun waves, and lots of entertainment! It’s also right by Belmont Park, so you an hit the beach and amusement park in the same day! One of you suggested even rent bikes and ride down the boardwalk!
  • Ocean Beach - some of you said it's better than Mission beach
  • Imperial Beach - Most southern beach in the US. just check the status before you go, It is currently closed.
  • Seal beach- see the seals!
  • Coronado -
  • Silverstrand beach- we have found tons of sand dollars here! -

FREE ACTIVITIES
  • Beach - you do have to pay to park sometimes
  • La Jolla to see the seals and get super close to them! Also there is a concrete walkway near there that the waves splash really high on sometimes, super fun to watch your kids play on.
  • Picnic at Balboa park
  • Tide pools - in La Jolla or In Cabrillo National Park. The park ranger said the best time to go is Dec-Feb. She said you’ll see lots of wildlife, and even whales migrating if you’re lucky! (there is a $20/car fee for the National Park though)
  • Point Loma Lighthouse (In Cabrillo Park ($20/car into national park)
  • Balboa park - there are things to do in there that cost money BUT just to go and enjoy the grounds and scenery is free!
  • Mormon Battalion Historic Site - super fun! There are cute ‘old time’ things for the kids to experience.
  • Old Town
  • Torrey pines state nature reserve (Parking costs $) - hiking! Amazing views! Would be an incredible sunset hike. But. The park closes at 8pm, and you have to be out, so be aware of that if you’re going for the sunset. My girls and I did a couple little hikes, and then packed a picnic dinner and ate down at the beach. The beach there is full of soft round rocks, super fun to practice your rock skipping skills.
  • Sunset cliffs
  • Spruce Street Suspension Bridge - so cool! The bridge sways in the middle which is a scary feeling the first time across. It goes from one neighborhood to another. There isn’t much else around, so it’ll likely be a quick little outing, but if you just have an hour to kill, it’s a great choice! Wile you are over that way, grab some Handel’s Ice cream. It’s so good.
EXPERIENCES THAT COST $
  • San Diego Zoo
  • Safari Park
  • Legoland- better with younger kids
  • Belmont Park
  • Birch aquarium
  • Tour the USS Midway
  • Botanical Gardens
  • Seaworld
  • Fleet Science Museum
  • Cabrillo National Park - $20/car but once you're in everything else is free.
  • Make a Splash with a seal - seal tour by boat or car
RESTAURANTS
  • Baked Bear - in Pacific beach
  • The Mission
  • Snooze for breakfast
  • Hodads - get a burger!
  • Ans Dry cleaning- ice cream shop
  • Fortunate Sons Chinese
  • Colimas- get a burrito!
  • Cali cream ice cream
SHOPPING
  • Seaport village
  • Coronado Island
  • Old town
  • Gaslamp quarter
  • shops along all the beaches!

PARKS
  • Balboa Park
  • Glider Park
DAY TRIPS
  • Coronado Island- You can rent bikes and bikes all over! Lots of fun restaurants, shops, and things to see! Stay to watch the sunset, it's AMAZING.
  • Old Town - Historical sites, food, shopping, and lots to explore!
  • Downtown and Gaslamp Quarter- victorian and modern architecture! Shopping, dining, and experiences!
  • Seaport village- shopping, live events, right by a marina, and great views San Diego Bay.
I think that is all for now, but Like I said, I will 100% update as I experience and visit these places! And as you suggest more!

Happy travels!

The question that gets asked over and over and over again. Which eyeshadow colors should I get for my eye color?? Well, I made it easy for you. Below you will find a graphic for blue, green, and brown eyes. If you have another eye color and would like guidance, send me a message on IG and I'll do my best to help you! Serena Smart Shades by Lutron

THE. BEST. SHADES. I’m telling you.. For so many reasons.. I just love Serena Smart Shades by Lutron.. from the ease of setting an evening ambience in our home, raising and lowering the shades from the app, to setting a schedule for the shades that fits with our daily life... Lutron has made it SO easy to love these shades.. |ad| I could list reasons all day, but in an effort to not keep you all day, I narrowed it down to five. Haha! So, here we go..

1. THE SCHEDULE. Hands down my favorite feature. I have our dining room shades set to a schedule to close when the sun is going down and open around the time my kids are coming downstairs to eat breakfast. Even one of my kids said this was their favorite feature. When they came home from school and realized I added shades to the family room windows, they were so excited! "I love them mom!" "Will they all open in the morning when we come down for breakfast?" You better believe that I set that schedule up ASAP when they asked that. haha!

2.NO STRINGS. I love that the shades are powered by a Pico Smart remote. There are no longer strings to get all tangled, or to mess up the balance of the blinds so they raise uneven. (IYKYK) My youngest says she loves that she can just push the button to open or close the shades and not have to jump up and grab the strings. Which leads me to the next feature..

3. EASE OF INSTALL. The shades come with step-by-step instructions to make installation easy peasy. Like, it literally took me less than 10 minutes to install each shade, including syncing to the remote and app.

4. THE WEBSITE. It was SO easy to navigate through the website. First you pick the right shades for you, then you are guided through measuring and and selecting the features and colors you want. You can even "name" the shade so when it comes, it's labeled so you know exactly where to install it. Click the photo below to check out their website now.

5. SYNCS TO ALEXA. I just figured this feature out.. But you can tell Alexa to turn on and off lights, raise and lower your shades, and if you have a scene set in your app, you can set it! Like say for example, you have a certain lighting you like for parties, you can set a "party lights" scene in your app and tell Alexa to set that scene! Too cool! The Lutron app syncs with other popular home systems like Ring, Alarm.com, Google Assistant, and several others! Click the video below to see how Alexa works with these shades.

So there you go! A few of the reasons these are so great! If you're ready to check out Serena Shades by Lutron, CLICK HERE. You will need a smart hub to get all connected, CLICK HERE to get one of those. And if you want to check out all of Lutron products, you can CLICK HERE

As always, I would love to hear if you decide to give these products a try! Happy DIYing! See you over on the 'gram!

Getting started with Smart Lighting

Tuesday, December 6, 2022

It can be so intimidating to get started adding “smart” lighting products to your home, but trust me it’s worth it! I can’t imagine not scheduling my lights on my phone or controlling them from my Apple Watch.. We have been working on adding smart switches, plugs and dimmers to our home for almost two years and before that I didn’t even want to think about so I didn’t. Haha!

I am so excited to partner with Lutron Electronics and help you get started with Caséta smart lighting products! These products are the kind that make you think.. “I never knew I needed this!” This is literally my thought every time I install a new device in our home.

Lutron makes it easy to get started, and to add more along the way! So now, as we see a need, we add one! But also, here’s the thing, you can absolutely outfit your whole house with Lutron products at the same time!

Anyway, here are few items that can get you started.

Smart Hub- This is a MUST. The Hub can hold support up to 75 Lutron products, and connects all your products to the Lutron app. The app is where you set up your schedules for individual devices. I want to note that the app is also controllable through an Apple Watch. I recently discovered that and have to say it’s sooooo convenient. The Hub is super easy to install, when you buy it you will get instructions on how to install, but basically it’s a plug in and sync to the app situation. You can find the Hub on Amazon HERE. Or you can purchase the starter kit which includes the Hub HERE.

Smart switch- These are a GREAT first product to invest in. They are SO convenient! Before we installed one for our front porch lights I would either forget to turn the lights off and they would be on all day, or I would forget to turn them on at night and the porch would be so dark! Now, i have them set to a schedule to turn on around sunset, and then off at sunrise, and the only thing I have to worry about is changing the light bulbs when they bun out haha! It’s also VERY convenient when you go out of town. You can set your lights to turn on and off as if you were still home. Find the the Caséta Smart Switch on Amazon HERE. PS remember my porch before I added the wood to the ceiling?! Crazy the difference…

Lamp Dimmer plug- Like I shared on INSTAGRAM, I have one of these controlling the lights on my Christmas tree. The sun sets so early in Vegas, and I’m usually in and out running the kids around to activities as it gets dark, so often, my tree wouldn’t get turned on until later in the evening when I finally remembered. But can I even tell you.. having our tree set to a schedule is so nice! Not only do I come home to a lit tree, but it takes one thing off my to do list every single day. Game changer! CLICK HERE to buy the Lamp dimmer plug.

See? So easy to get started! I’ll link their website HERE for you to check them out in case you want to see all their products. You can also find their products in Home Depot or Lowe’s, and on Amazon!

I hope this was helpful for you! If you have questions, feel free to reach out! And I would love to hear how you are using Caséta by LUtron in your home! You can comment below, or send me a message on INSTAGRAM. And Until next time, Happy DIYing and have a great day!

Xoxo,
Sharee
